Dear Ben and Mark, 

I want to say what a pleasure it was to have you come to my home and interview me.  And it was an absolute treat to talk about my life; something I’d never done before. Initially, I was a bit daunted … ‘who would be interested in my life?’   As a housewife, mother and grandmother, I was surprised to find how many interesting things there were to talk about, and it really challenged me to think back over everything I’d experienced in my seventy seven years.  I chose to skim over some of the bad times and focused on the memories I wanted to leave to my family.  I especially enjoyed focusing on the differences of life back in my early years from the 1940’s on, to what my family experience now in the 21st century.  The changes are amazing.

Ben you were so easy to talk to which made it much easier for me.  Even though it was my history, my memory let me down a few times. With a few prompts and key words, you were able to get me back on track.   And Mark, you were such an easy presence to deal with, though we’d not met before.  I felt a bit of a VIP having your lights and cameras on me.  The friendly atmosphere you and Ben created was so helpful in getting me to share my story with you.

I would be happy to recommend you to anyone who would like this marvellous experience of making a recording of their life story.  It’s surprising how many things our families and friends don’t know about us.   ……. And I’m so glad I did it now, before my memory gets any worse!
